A Fire official has linked some house fires to the careless charging of cellphones, warning that it was like playing Russian roulette.

There have been more than 73 house fires for the year so far and against that background,  fire officer Patrick Edwards has appealed to Barbadians to be prudent, as tragedy could result from everyday activities.

This month there have been at least four house fires in St Michael, Christ Church and St Philip.

Edwards cautioned cellphone users to keep them away from flammable materials when mobiles are being charged.
