ATTORNEY AT LAW Andrew Pilgrim challenged a decision made by Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday, after he remanded a man overnight.

The magistrate had just heard a matter involving Charles Andrew Beckles, of Tichbourne, Howells Cross Road, St Michael. The lathe operator pleaded guilty to damaging a lorry belonging to the Crown on Sunday.

The facts, as presented by prosecutor Sergeant Neville Watson, revealed that a Barbados Water Authority vehicle was parked in Howells Cross Road close to Beckles’ home, and was at the time supplying residents with water.

The driver heard Beckles say the water was off and that he felt like driving away the vehicle.

The court heard that Beckles then walked into a wooded area and returned with a 2×4 piece of wood and accused the driver of parking in his driveway.

The driver refuted it, saying he had parked in the road.

Beckles struck the left side of the lorry twice with the wood, causing a dent.
