Central Bank Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell has predicted that the lull in real economic growth Barbados has endured since 2006 will end next year.
Worrell said yesterday the economy was “firmly set on the path to sustainable growth [and] is forecast to grow by two per cent in 2015 and by 2.3 per cent in 2016”.
These predictions were made when the bank released its third-quarter economic review in which it announced that the economy did not grow between January and last month.
Worrell said the expected future growth would be led by “the sectors and activities in which we have a demonstrated comparative advantage over the competition, in terms of quality, productivity and the strength of the Barbados brand”. (SC)
