CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) Joeann Grant is the first major casualty in a shake-up at Harrison’s Cave.
Sources confirmed to the SATURDAY SUN yesterday that Grant was given her walking papers on October 31 after a full-scale investigation by the board of management of Caves of Barbados, which manages the island’s premier tourist attraction.
The disclosure comes on the heels of an announcement earlier this week by Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner of a pending reshuffling of how the state-owned organisation would conduct its business in the future.
Speaking in the Upper Chamber, Sandiford-Garner expressed disappointment that Harrison’s Cave was not a revenue earner despite a US$16 million financial injection in 2006.
