Rivalry renewed

So much for that olive branch.

Consider Jack Francis’ peace offering taken off the table now as the wily draughts veteran is looking to renew the sport’s oldest rivalry, having challenged Ronald “Suki” King to yet another “winner-takes-all” Go As You Please showdown.

Francis called out his age-old adversary after King failed to respond to his pleas of having the two men practise together ahead of the just-concluded World Three-Move Restriction Qualifier in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I just want to prove to Barbados once and for all that I am just as good as, if not better than “Suki”,” reasoned Francis, who coincidentally finished ahead of King at the World Qualifier.

“And I want this showdown as soon as possible in a 24-game format so I can show everyone my all-round skills.

“But this isn’t just for me because I believe a match like this will help the dying profile of the game in Barbados. This is the perfect medicine to inject into draughts right now considering the state of the game,” he contended.
