THE QUEEN Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is again fully functioning.
Yesterday, doctors resumed non-emergency surgeries after Government promised to pay $25 million within the next two weeks to suppliers owed by the hospital, and thereafter pump $2 million a week into the facility to prevent a recurrence of supply shortages.
But they warned if Government failed to deliver on the promises and supplies again became an issue, they would once more take action.
This is the latest development in the controversy at the QEH since last Friday when BAMP, and the Junior Doctors Association, took action to protect the safety of patients. After a meeting they revealed the serious and recurrent problems with low or no supplies at the institution, and announced their decision to conserve the limited supplies available by only managing patients who required emergency care.
