George Lamming Primary are the champions of the inaugural Berger Paints Primary Schools Road Tennis Tournament.
The school captured both the team and individual crowns when the finals were staged at the Blackman and Gollop Primary School court yesterday.
Southpaw Ajani Roach took the individual crown, beating Shaquar Shepherd of Hilda Skeene, 21-15, 21-12.
Jarad Brewster kept some pride for the host by grabbing the third spot with a tough 25-23, 17-21, 21-16 win over Ivory Steele of Hilda Skeene.
Roach started the team challenge for George Lamming by using his chop and cut to end a fight from Tyreque Nurse 21-18.
After an even contest, Roach burst to 20-15 before Nurse battled to 18-20, thanks to some strong serves. A net error then put George Lamming one game up.
With their backs to the wall, Hilda Skeene looked likely of opening up the race before Tre Byer ended the contest by pipping Lajay Hurdle 23-21 in a nail-biter that made the third game unnecessary.
Milton Lynch showed little gratitude to the host as they took the third-place match in the teams 2-0.
Devon Stevenson edged Kamari Griffith 23-21 and Shaquan Applewhaite beat Jarad Brewster 21-16.
