Reform a long way off

BARBADOS HAS A long way to go concerning public sector reform, said director of the Office of Public Sector Reform (OPSR) Michael Archer.
In an interview at a public sector reform workshop yesterday at Almond Bay, Hastings, Christ Church, Archer outlined some of his ongoing concerns.
“Our weakest area is the lack of performance indicators. You should have performance indicators per job so that you have something to gauge performance by and we need to step up in this area,” he said.
Some of the other problem areas included: the need for more effective, humane and fair leadership; the need to utilize more Information and Communication Technology; the need for less expenditure; the need to develop service standards; the need for punctuality and the need to answer the telephone.” (CA)
