With five countries in the region having prospective hydrocarbons, Barbados Prime Minister and chair of CARICOM, Mia Amor Mottley, is calling for a regional protocol for dealing with each other.
“We have to treat each other better than we treat anyone else,” she said at the opening of the energy conference yesterday.
Mottley’s topic was The Future of the Caribbean Energy Sector.
“I have come to Port of Spain because in the year that I was born, four leaders of this region got together and determined that there had to be a future post the demise of the Federation. I’ve come to Port of Spain, because I also lead a political party whose constitution requires of us, that regional integration be the objective to which we aspire,”she said.
She said not enough was being said about energy issues in the Caribbean. (AJ)
