EVERY WEEK since the end of October, thousands of cruise passengers have been visiting Barbados and this will continue until next April. This is a good opportunity to expose the day trippers to the island and encourage them to return for a longer visit. The cruise industry clearly offers a golden economic opportunity for Barbados.

But first impressions matter.

Only last Monday, the chief executive officer of Foster & Ince Cruise World, Martin Ince, spoke of the positive outlook for the sector and on what needs to be done to excite passengers.

To get a snapshot of some of the experiences of a cruise visitor, a SUNDAY SUN team decided to take the trek from outside the entrance to the Bridgetown Port to Broad Street and back. Since the first day, Tuesday, was interrupted by rain, the observation trip was completed on Wednesday.
