IT IS RARE for schoolboys to bat for two entire days but Nicholls Baking Combermere have done it and now are just a step away from winning the Barbados Cricket Association’s (BCA) Intermediate title.

Leniko Boucher fashioned a responsible hundred and shared in a 115-run fourth-wicket stand with all-rounder Shamar Springer, who made 52  as Combermere again baked out the Fire Service bowlers yesterday in the Intermediate final.

Taking full advantage of another excellent batting pitch, even though there was encouraging bounce for the bowlers, at the St Catherine Club, Bayfield, St Philip, Combermere batted solidly to reach 298 for six at stumps, replying to BFS’ modest first innings total of 157, for an overall lead of 141 runs.

Boucher, a 16-year-old right-hander, who restarted on 74 with his team on 122 for three overweek, was finally out 15 minutes after tea for 121.
