STOP RUBBISHING the comments of international rating agencies on Barbados’ economic performance based on partisanship, advises Opposition Leader Mia Mottley.

“Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s are independent entities who make decisions according to known criteria internationally, and the judgement they pass is their own based on our performance – whether we like it or not,” said Mottley.

The Barbados Labour Party (BLP) leader was responding to criticisms in Government circles of last Friday’s downgrade of Barbados’ long-term sovereign credit rating from BB- to B by Standard & Poor’s, with a negative outlook – effectively a notice that another downgrade could come if conditions don’t improve.
