Bajans start Super50 defence

For the Barbados Pride it will be all about pride.

The region’s defending four-day champions start the NAGICO Super-50 limited overs tournament this morning against the Combined Campuses and Colleges at the National Cricket Centre, and national coach Hendy Springer is expecting players like Kirk Edwards, Kevin Stoute and Tino Best, who all had their issues in last year’s tournament, to come back with a bang.

Edwards in particular, will not have fond memories of Trinidad and Tobago last year, as he was sent packing from the squad, after refusing to sign for his playing kit. The controversy did not affect Barbados performance, however, as they went on to win the competition in spite of losing the hard-hitting six-footer.

Springer is expecting big things from the big opening batsman in 2015. (BA)
