Toyota checks

DO NOT BE SURPRISED if the Toyota car you are driving or your mechanic is working on comes under unusual scrutiny by police.

And expect nothing less than a thorough interrogation if you turn up at the Barbados Licensing Authority seeking to register or license a Toyota car.

In the face of an apparent upsurge in the theft of Toyota cars in Barbados, authorities have stepped up measures to apprehend culprits and return the vehicles to their rightful owners.

Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley described the issue as “a real serious problem”, indicating that within recent times he had received three calls from St Philip residents alone about their Toyota cars that disappeared from outside their homes in the middle of the night. (RRM)
