FOUR NEWCOMERS are among the seven finalists in the 7-12 age category of the Scotiabank Junior Calypso Monarch contest.
KCB, Master Kei, Mhizz Kibabba and De Rock have advanced to the finals along with Mighty Ballerina, Browne Star and Hannah Glow.
Browne Star and De Rock are brothers.
They will meet defending monarch Summa on July 22 at Kensington Oval.
The reserves are 7 Star and SanShe.
In the 13-18 category, the finalists meeting defending monarch De MC are newcomers Lady Nica, Mr Personality and Miracle, who will be joined by De Overcomer, Raanan, Sparkle T and Yahandje.
Tinesha is the reserve.
The calypso battle was keenly fought at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre Sunday night before a large audience. (GBM)
