“ONE FIBA” apparently isn’t just a catch phrase for basketball’s governing body.

Turns out FIBA is putting its money where its mouth is in terms of having a greater involvement in each of the 214 member federations.

An example of this is that world president Horacio Muratore insisted on being present for the ongoing Caribbean Basketball Confederations’ (CBC) congress in Barbados.

Speaking through an interpreter during Friday’s cocktail reception at the Radisson, the recently-elected Argentine revealed it was necessary for him to attend this meeting in light of FIBA’s recent policy shift away from interacting with countries through the zonal boards.

“I think this is the time for the national federations because we want to come closer to them, so we changed the system of governance to strengthen the national federations, help them in their development to put them in better position to equip their players for the 2019 World Cup,” said Muratore.
