Miller appointed to WICB Corporate Governance & Nominations Committee

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dodridge Miller to its Corporate Governance & Nominations Committee.

Miller has been the President and Chief Executive Officer at the Sagicor Financial Corporation (formerly the Mutual Group of Companies) since July 1, 2002.

“We are quite fortunate to have someone with the knowledge, background and expertise of Dodridge agree to serve West Indies cricket in this way,” said WICB president Whycliffe “Dave” Cameron.

“We recognise that good governance and strong, responsible, balanced leadership are going to be critical to creating long-term organisational success and so we are grateful for the time that Dodridge is taking to help guide us on this path of restoring West Indies cricket as a successful brand.”

The principal role of the Corporate Governance & Nominations Committee is to assist the Directors in organising themselves to discharge their duties and responsibilities properly and effectively.

Miller will join President of the Caribbean Court of Justice Sir Dennis Byron, who is chairman of the Committee, Cameron, WICB Vice President Emmanuel Nanthan, Chief Executive Officer Michael Muirhead and Corporate Secretary Verlyn Faustin.

As head of the Sagicor Group, Miller is responsible for the strategic management of the company, including international business development, and led its successful listing efforts on the London Stock Exchange.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries, spanning auditing, accounting, banking, investments and insurance.

Miller has spearheaded a number of strategic initiatives within the Sagicor Group, such as the development of its international business portfolio.

He serves as the chairman or director of a number of well-established regional and international financial businesses including Island Life Insurance Company Limited (Jamaica), Allnation Insurance Company in the United States and Capital deSerguros in Panama.

He also serves as a Director of Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited and is a Member of Council of University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.

Miller is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (United Kingdom) and was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of the West Indies seven years ago.

He is a graduate of Barbados Community College and earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Wales and Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. He also holds an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of the West Indies. (PR)
