THE SWIFT-FOOTED ATHLETES of Orange House blazed a trail so bright that it seemed to blind the Green House team when they went up against each other on Friday at the Isolation Cavaliers Sport Club in Lakes, St Andrew.
It was all part of the fun and friendly rivalry when Chalky Mount Primary School held its annual inter-house sports meet under clear blue skies on a rather warm day.
Defending champions Orange made it clear from early they would be going all out to retain the crown. In races in which only two competitors ran, it was usually the Orange House runner who crossed the line first.
At 11:02 a.m. the gap between the two camps was only six points (418 for Orange House and 412 for Green House), but after the 80-metre races for boys and girls in the Under-7 and Under-9 divisions, the 400 metre races for boys and girls in the Under-11 and Under-13 categories and the Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13 100-metre finals, Orange had pulled away.
