MP blasts Inniss’ CCJ comment

AN OPPOSITION MP has characterised as “feckless and brainless buffoonery” a Cabinet Minister’s lament that there is no Barbadian judge on the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).

Opposition spokesman on Industry, Commerce and International Business, Kerri Symmonds said Wednesday he was “extremely concerned” about the raising of the “narrow, nationalistic issue’’ by Minister of Industry and Commerce Donville Inniss, the previous day in the House of Assembly.

“The judges of the Court are not selected by nationalistic considerations,” Symmonds noted. “They are not selected by the CARICOM member states. They are not selected via any process that directly involves the politicians of this region.
