Broomes backs Farley’s style

EVEN AFTER hanging up his hat, one of the island’s more controversial principals is being defended by a former colleague.

And it is coming from one who is currently battling the island’s largest teachers’ union.

Principal of Parkinson Memorial Secondary School, Jeff Broomes, threw his support behind his “brother from another mother”, Matthew Farley – during a function at Hilton Barbados on Saturday to honour Farley – for his unpopular position on a dress code as principal of Graydon Sealy Secondary School.

Broomes said he thought Farley was “slaughtered unfairly” by the Barbadian public over the skirt length issue, and that it gave the impression that he was not supported in his stance by other principals.
