GG banks on the young

GOVERNOR GENERAL SIR ELLIOTT BELGRAVE has expressed confidence in Barbados’ youth and has pledged to uplift and encourage them.

Sir Elliott yesterday declared his faith in the island’s young people while publicly taking 
issue with negative remarks made on television by one of the island’s senior citizens last week.

Addressing students at  yesterday morning, the Governor General said he was “very upset and disappointed” by the centenarian’s remarks, claiming she had used “a very broad brush on television to paint a picture in which she was most critical of the young people.

“I don’t agree with the characterisation which she tried to put over and the young people can’t respond,” said Barbados’ Head of State.
