Help Government ‘cut expenditure’

WITH MORE THAN $400 million in government’s estimated $4 billion 2015/2016 budget being allocated to health care Senator Maxine McClean has suggested professionals in the public health care system must play a role in helping to cut down expenditure and maximising resources in the system.

In a comprehensive presentation to the Senate on the Appropriation Bill 2015 yesterday McClean asked “Have we seen ongoing efforts to address the issue of efficiency and effectiveness?” estimates-2015

On the matter of procurement, storage and use of medication at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and other institutions she asked “are we comfortable that when supplies come in, that supplies are not hoarded because people may fear that they may disappear and then we end up with obsolescence?” (GC)
