BARBADOS’ KING OF THE ROAD very nearly found his way back atop the podium again.

Top local cyclist Darren Matthews appears to be in a rich vein of form again, having barely missed out on a medal position after finishing fourth in the elite category of the Springbank Road Race in Ontario.

Competing by himself for Colombian-based side Team Cocos, the standout 24-year-old was unfortunate not to be on the podium when he lost out in a group sprint to the line.

Michael Jaffray came home first ahead of Ed Veal and Jeff Schiller in a 67.5 kilometre criterium that featured a small hill at the back end of it. (JM)
