GIVE OUR RELAY TEAMS more time to practise together and we can take it to the next level.
That’s the plea from coach Alwyn Babb to the Athletic Association Of Barbados (AAB) after the Bajans turned in very competitive performances at last weekend’s World Relays in the Bahamas.
The quartet of Levi Cadogan, Mario Burke, Nicholas Deshong and Ramon Gittens set a new national record of 37.38 seconds, placing second in the 4×100 metres B final. The team earned automatic qualification for this year’s World Championships in China.
“For the first time, we have at least four guys who can work together at home. The others who are overseas – Ramon, Shane, Gregmar [Swift] and Burke need to be given enough time to practise with the squad in preparation for major competition,” Babb told the DAILY NATION.
