Table tennis champs recharging

For several years they conquered many an opponent on the tennis tables, now like all of us, Anthonette Riley and Mark Dowell are up against a more treacherous adversary in what is shaping up to be a prolonged battle.

The Barbados Table Tennis Centre on Nursery Drive, opposite Queen’s Park, was one of the early institutions to close out of an abundance of caution as COVID-19 threatened the country.

Now Riley and Dowell are sharing the same nightmare as the global sporting community, with sports coming to a complete standstill in most countries.

Dowell has taken a fairly philosophical response to the current reality as he observes the “stay-at-home strategy”. (PH)
