Church bashing

THE CHURCH, once the moral custodian of society and enjoying the luxury of having its values and standards as the accepted ones, is now being regarded as an intruder, manipulative and infringing the rights of others, a Christian leader is contending.

“The reality is that we who were once the moral custodians of society are now seemingly being treated as intruders, visitors or foreigners and laws are constantly being formulated in a valiant attempt to . . . deny entry to the authentic gospel message and we are now being searched indiscriminately and openly with very little right to appeal to any court of justice,” said Apostle Selwyn Brathwaite of the Kingdom Life Assembly.

Brathwaite was delivering Thursday night’s Joseph Niles Legacy Lecture and Barbadian Authors Avenue at the Queen’s Park Steel Shed as part of Barbados Gospelfest.
