Panton rally glory

IT WAS not the 25th anniversary celebration of Rally Barbados local motoring fans were hoping for yesterday, as 13-time winner Roger ‘The Sheriff’ Skeete and his co-driver Louis Venezia were dethroned by Jamaica’s Jeff ‘Fudgie’ Panton and Mike Fennell.

The Jamaicans triumphed in their Ford Focus WRC06 as they were declared provisional winners with a total elapsed time of one hour, 00.59.71 seconds after a near flawless performance in the three-day Sol rally, which covered a total of 113.20 kilometres of stage miles after starting Friday at Bushy Park and finishing at the same venue.
