SENIOR NETBALL knockout champions UWI Blackbirds were taken to the wire by Spooners Hill before squeezing out a 30-29 victory when the Freekz Customz League continued at the Netball Stadium on Monday night.
A superlative effort from Barbados goal shooter Shonica Wharton in sinking 27 of her 32 shots gave the Blackbirds the victory upon their return from the Inter Campus Games in Trinidad and Tobago, where they placed second.
However, Spooners Hill can only blame themselves for failing to score their second win of the season after churning out costly turnovers that would enrich any village bakery.
