Water woes hit school

WATER REMAINEd a scarce commodity in St Joseph yesterday as dry or slow-running taps again forced the early closure of Grantley Adams Memorial Secondary School and caused some people to miss work.

At Grantley Adams Memorial, deputy principal Ian Holder said water shortages were a perennial problem in the area and the school was not well enough equipped to deal with them.

“Every year St Joseph suffers the problem of not having water during what I call the drought season. Right now the water is off; we called the Barbados Water Authority (BWA), who told us it is a pumping problem due to the low levels of water.
