Tridents advance

BARBADOS senior men’s football team advanced to the third round of the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a well deserved 1-0 victory over Aruba Sunday night at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

A sell-out crowd, which included vice chancellor of the University of the West Indies, Sir Hilary Beckles, witnessed a courageous and committed performance by the youthful Bajan Tridents to see off a persistent challenge by the talented Arubans.

With two away goals under their belt after the 2-0 first leg win, Barbados started the game in the driver’s seat and created the first opportunity of the match in the 12th minute.
