CPL ‘disaster’

THE SCREAMING CPL cricket crazy crowds and dancing girls at Kensington Oval could be silenced next year.

That’s because the owners of the hugely popular Caribbean Premiere League (CPL) T20 tournament have branded the island’s franchise a “commercial disaster”.

Furthermore, the CPL franchise, which was created by Barbados-based Canadian billionaire Ajmal Khan in 2013 but who transferred ownership to Digicel principals last year, was now losing about US$1 million a year on the Barbados operation.
