BARBADOS WILL BE in line for a substantial chunk of financing from the CARICOM Development Fund over the next five years.

Outgoing chief executive officer of the fund Ambassador Lorne McDonnough indicated this today during a media briefing.

He said Suriname, Haiti and Montserrat would also receive funding during the coming five-year cycle.

The CDF offers low-cost loans to small and medium sized enterprises – ordinary citizens – and financing for specific infrastructure projects.

Since 2010, the fund has approved about $92 million in assistance to support members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, Belize and Guyana. (TY)
