LINES OF PEOPLE stretched through the aisles of Sheraton Mall as hundreds took advantage of the fifth LED bulb giveaway.

The giveaway is a partnership between the Division of Energy, Caribbean LED Lighting Inc along with Courts Barbados as part of the energy efficient lighting distribution facility.

Business Development manager T’amor Skeete said the project was an effort to assist Barbadians to become more energy efficient. She said previous similar events had already taken place at Courts branches in the City, Speightstown and Six Roads and they had also done one at BMEX but Sheraton had the biggest turnout.

“This turnout is very surprising; we did not expect this large scale but we have put an orderly system in place,” she said.

Each person who brought a Barbados Light and Power Bill and a form of identification received five six-watt bulbs. The second phase of the project will begin in September. (CA)
