TIME NOW PERMITS ME TO RESPOND to an article in the June 21 Sunday Sun [headlined Gay Couple Ties The Knot].
My first question is why is this article considered to be newsworthy? Why is the journey of a woman to find a lesbian lover considered to be of interest and printed in our premier Sunday newspaper? I find it extremely disappointing that the Nation would print such an article.
Here we have two women who are living in an unnatural relationship and it is considered to be something of interest to the general public?
In the same way, if a male or female had left these shores and met someone of the opposite sex and followed the same path, would it have been printed in the newspaper? I dare say it would not.
Does the publication of this article have a more underlying reason? And is that reason to sensitise the Barbadian public in a subtle way into accepting these relationships?
These relationships are condemned by God and He will not change His mind to suit our deviation from His Word, or to suit our whims and fancies for something that He severely disproves of because we now choose to seek to please ourselves rather than to please Him.
At the end of the article the lady had the audacity to say “this is a growing-old together marriage, if it is God’s will”.
Since when did God sanction marriage between two women or two men? God ordained marriage between male and female and He has not changed His mind, nor ever will.
My response is by no means judgemental towards the people involved, as God loves us all but He hates sin and sin is sin.
The portrayal of this relationship and others like it brings into focus how much our thinking and our actions have shifted when compared to years ago.
The world is moving full steam ahead to change God’s laws and to sanction these unnatural relationships, as we would have read Saturday of the events taking place in the United States.
My prayer is that this region will remain a beacon in upholding the Word of God.
In the past the Nation has published wholesome articles which celebrated the longevity of marriage between a man and a woman. My prayer is that an article of the like which was published does not become the norm.
