LOOKA LEW: Sick car syndrome

Share post:

DON’T TELL me that it can’t happen cause it happened to me. A “sick” car sneezed on my car and made it sick. True.

Now I ain’t got no luck at all, my wife don’t like to hear me saying so, but it is true. Listen, if a millionaire had to put ten names in a hat and mine was one, and then say he gine pull out nine names and leave back one, and every name he pull out gine get one million dollars, I ain’t asking you, I telling you, my name gine be that one name that gine get left back. Then somebody gine t’ief the hat and I gine blame me for t’iefing it.

And just to prove it, last week Thursday evening, I was up at CBC, when I got a message on my phone from a female workmate, telling me that her car broke down in front of MTW there in the Pine, and if I could assist.

I drove over there and realised that her car was “sick” but driveable, so the plan was that she would take her time and drive slowly to her mechanic in Bush Hall, and I would drive behind her. So we driving and gine down the road nice and slow, but every now and then her car coughing and sneezing on mine.

Anyhow, by this time outside dark and we driving gine through Waterford Bottom. Suddenly the battery light on my dashboard came on, which meant that I was having a battery problem, then bruggadung!mThe car brek down.

Meanwhile, she drive and gone long and left me, unaware that I brek down. So I reached for my cellphone to call her to let her know that I in trouble, but guess what happened? That is why I tell wunna I ain’t got no luck; the cellphone battery was dead, so I couldn’t make any calls and I got traffic back up from there to ’bout East coast Road.

Well I did what most men does do, I got out and pulled the hood and looked at things down in there by the engine. I ain’t know what I looking for but I looking, then I tapped some things too, including the battery.

I got back in and miraculously the car started, I got as far as Cawmere School and brek down again. Fortunately, a workmate who she had also called for help came around the corner and saw me and give me a jump-start.

The car drove forward bout two inches and brek down again. So I went by the security guard by the school and asked him if I could leave the car in there overnight.

We jump-start the car again, this time the lights came back on bright and the car sounded strong. Well, feeling a bit better I decided not to leave the car by Combermere but to drive home instead.

But guess what happen? As soon as I get pass the stadium the car brek down again.

Vex and furious now, I decide to walk to the bus stop and catch bus and go home. So I gone by the bus stop, only to realise that I ain’t had a cent in my pocket, cause I had taken the last $20 I had in my name and put gas in the same car that brek down. And then the rain started to fall, soaking me.

So you see what I mean when I say I ain’t got no luck? But I know it all started when that girl’s car coughed on mine and made it sick. See ya.
