GUYANA’S WINNING of their 11th successive Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) crown was almost secondary to the fine fare and camaraderie which the players, family and officials enjoyed when the awards ceremony was held at Coconut Court, Hastings, on Saturday night.
The bittersweet feeling of winning more silverware was experienced by many of the competitors, who were graduating after competing in their final Junior CASA.
Many of the juniors not only showed how good squash players they were, but they also spoke, and at times sang, of the great time which they experienced in Barbados.
Barbados placed second among the boys, while the girls got the better of Guyana, with captain Amanda Haywood dominating the competition to take the Under-17 crown. Her St Michael teammate Meagan Best was superior in the Under-15s. (JM)
