Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) has started issuing land tax bills for the financial year 2018-2019.

The BRA’s Manager, Communications and PR, Carolyn Williams-Gayle, has advised that the issue date for this year’s bill is September 24, 2018.

“In relation to the issue date on the bills, taxpayers can benefit from a 10 per cent discount if payment is made in full within 30 days and a five per cent discount if full payment is made within 60 days of this date,” she explained.

Williams-Gayle stated that bill payments could be made at the Authority’s locations at the Treasury Building, Bridgetown; Weymouth Corporate Centre, Roebuck Street, St Michael; Warrens Tower II, St Michael; Oistins, Christ Church; and Holetown, St James.

The opening hours for the Treasury Building and Holetown are Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., while the other locations are 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The manager also encouraged persons to use the alternative payment options offered by the Authority.

“These include using the drop boxes for cheques; wire transfers for those persons living overseas; and paying online using EzPay on the government portal. This last option requires persons to register for this service and a direct link to registration can be found on our website www.bra.gov.bb/Pay,” she explained.

Outside of the billing for this year, she added that the Authority was following through with focusing on land tax defaulters and would be issuing a list of properties for sale. (BGIS)
