ALEXANDRA IS SET to become Barbados’ ninth certified school for Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE).
During the annual meeting with the Barbados Scholarship and exhibition winners on Friday, Minister of Education Ronald Jones said the latest addition would not be the last.
“We have eight CAPE schools – Harrison College, Queen’s College, Combermere, Lodge, [The] St Michael [School], Springer Memorial, St Leonard’s Boys and [Christ Church] Foundation. At these schools, the standard has not dropped . . . [and] from this year Alexandra School joins the number of sixth form schools,” he said.
Jones said the ministry intended to “progressively add more” as resources became available and the “quality of CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate) rises”. (CA)
