EIGHT MONTHS after an ancient mahogany tree smashed their eternal resting place, the Barclay family returned to their home in St Mary’s Church Yard yesterday morning.
In a ceremony performed by Canon Dr Von Watson, rector of St Mary’s Anglican Church, the nine wooden boxes containing the lead coffins and remains of the family members were yesterday re-entombed in a rebuilt vault.
Sprinkled with holy water, the coffins were put back in the same order in which they were discovered when the original soft stone vault was excavated.
The coffins had been stored at Lyndhurst Funeral Home for the past few months while the work on the tomb was being done.
