OPPOSITION LEADER Mia Mottley ordered the shutdown of one of her party’s branch meetings last night after confusion broke out over the election of a new executive council.
The Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) Christ Church West constituency branch annual general meeting was suspended on instructions from Mottley after some uncertainty over the members’ list and who was entitled to vote for a new executive for the branch led by Member of Parliament Dr Maria Agard.
In a brief interview last night from Bonnetts Resource Centre in Brittons Hill, St Michael, where the abandoned meeting was scheduled, personal assistant to the BLP leader, Pat Parris, said that there were “discrepancies in the list and the list has over 1 000 members”.
