IT WAS LIGHTS, cameras and action when number one seed Mark “Venom” Griffith led the final group of road tennis players into the semi-finals of the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union Limited Monarchs of the Court at Flow Sports Club, Wildey, on Wednesday night.

With a television crew from Los Angeles filming the event put on by the Professional Road Tennis Association, Griffith was in sublime form as his “fall guy” Marson Johnson stuck to the script of looking good but then toppling to two embarrassing sows, 21-9, 21-9.

Anyone who did not see the script first hand would have been shocked by the twist in the tale as Johnson actually locked the scores at nine before Griffith moved into another gear while his opponent shifted into park.

Griffith rushed to 17-9 to win the next point after a 21-ball rally which ended with a frustrated Johnson hitting into the net.
