THE “unsung heroes” of the tourism industry are the ones who will help pull Barbados out of the economic challenges the island is facing.
Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy heaped this praise on the sector as about 50 of the “best ambassadors” were thrown into the national spotlight yesterday when they were given a special treat by a British couple returning for their 40th visit.
“Understand the value of what you’re doing and, yes, you’re earning to take care of your family, but at the same time this is a serious national duty that you’re doing also and you have to see it in that light. You’re referred to as the best ambassadors that this country has . . . and I think that is something I want you to take to heart and to grow from strength to strength,” Sealy said.
The occasion was a special “thank you” to staff at Waves Hotel in Prospect, St James, hosted by repeat guests Robert and Shirley Robertson.
