Members of corporate Barbados who contributed tanks to the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) turned up this morning for the recommital of the BWA’s Community Water tanks at Horse Hill, St Joseph.

This comes after Innotech removed tanks from communities across the island over non-payment of close to a million dollars in rent.

BWA general manager, Keithroy Halliday, said this is the first of the 36, with 12 to be reinstalled by the end of the week. He also revealed that the BWA has had to cut off donations as they have received overwhelming support.

He added that a system is being put in place to augment water supply to St Joseph and other areas to ensure that eventually there would be no need for community tanks.

Also speaking at the launch was Carl Boyce, shop steward for the BWA, who said that workers will do all it takes to ensure water is supplied to those in need. (RD)
