THE SWIMMING season continued yesterday with the preliminaries of the Purity Primary Inter-School Championships at the Aquatic Centre.
The usual efficiency of the meet organisers was sorely tested because the electronic timing wasn’t working, forcing them to resort to hand timing.
There were some standout performances. Adia Deane of St Angela’s was head and shoulders above the competition in the girls’ 9-10 25-metre freestyle. She was the day’s fastest qualifier with a time of 14.37 seconds, the fastest time across all age groups yesterday.
Amelie Baker of St Winifred’s was the second fastest in that age group with a time of 15.98 seconds, while third fastest was Kyla Beckles of Luther Thorne who clocked 16.37 seconds. (PG)
