BARBADIANS SHOULD BE more concerned about the vulnerable in society.
So said the director of the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit Cheryl Willoughby during a workshop for the elderly entitled Abuse Ignores: Violence against the Elderly at Almond Bay, Hastings, Christ Church.
Speaking this morning, she said that elderly people who have laid the foundation of solid moral values should be treated like royalty.
Willoughby said Barbadians must come to a place where they are not afraid to speak about principles which have helped them over the years.
President of the Barbados Association of Retired Persons Ed Bushell said a cause for concern was the number of robberies in which guns were used.  He cautioned the elderly to be aware of their surroundings.
He also urged them to lead healthy lives via exercise and proper eating since this could lead to longevity. (MR)
