Payne cries foul

VETERAN OPPOSITION MP George Payne has blasted the decision to expel colleague Dr Maria Agard from the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) as “unfair”, saying it has left him “somewhat shocked” and feeling like he was “dreaming”.

And he has suggested that it might not be too late for the National Council of the party to reconsider its decision.

“The decision can be overturned” once that organ was prepared to accept guidance from “a higher body” like the law courts, he added.

“Right now I believe I am dreaming because I really can’t believe what is happening to Maria. I cannot believe it is happening. That’s all I am prepared to say because I don’t think it is fair. It is not fair,” he said. (GBM)
