BARBADOS’ senior women’s hockey players landed gold yesterday after blanking Peru 3-0 in the final of the Aquece Rio International Hockey Championship in Brazil.

The result ensured that the Bajan lasses ended the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.

This is the first time that any senior Barbados hockey team, male or female, has won an internationally accredited  competition. It also marks the first time that a national hockey team has played a tournament unbeaten.
