Agard issue divides BLP youth leaders

THE MARIA AGARD SAGA appears to have left a sharp division among young members of the Barbados Labour Party.

The disagreement played out on television Sunday night between current and former presidents of the party’s youth arm, the League of Young Socialists.

Former president Akil Daley told CBC-TV’s The People’s Business he was deeply concerned about the actions taken against Agard.

“Dr Maria, in my opinion, did no grave offence that demanded such drastic punishment. So, in my opinion, the punishment did not fit the offence,” he said, adding that young members like himself were deeply concerned.  (WILLCOMM)
