LOCAL CYCLING is being rocked yet again by a positive drug test.
A decade after world-rated rider Barry Forde was first sanctioned, his one-time protégé now faces a similar ban, as reigning two-time national road race champ Darren Matthews has tested positive for performance- enhancing drugs.
The news broke earlier this week after the 24-year-old’s Team Coco teammate Carlos Ospina refused to take a urine test following the recent Tour of Guyana.
According to an source close to the situation, Matthews was tested at the same competition last month only to have his A sample return with an adverse analytical finding.
