Adrian Agard, executive producer of Barbados Gospelfest, landed a lifetime award in recognition of his contribution to gospel music in the Caribbean.
Agard was honoured by the Canadian Caribbean Gospel Music Awards (CGMA) last weekend at the Praise Cathedral Worship Centre in Ontario, Canada, where he collected the International Contributor of Caribbean Gospel Music Lifetime Award.
A Press release from CGMA stated: “Over the years Canadian Caribbean gospel artists have made significant contributions to the music industry in a remarkable way in spite of the limited resources and exposure.
“CGMA seeks to highlight the substantial contributions these artists have made by honouring them during our Canadian Caribbean Gospel Music Awards.”
Agard, who has been with Barbados Gospelfest for the past 21 years, said: “It was a tremendous honour to be recognized as having impacted the Canadian gospel music arena, and this continues to underscore the strength and potential of Barbados Gospelfest.
“The award is testimony of the reach of Barbados Gospelfest and is a positive highlight for Barbados and the sponsors who support Barbados Gospelfest,” he said.
In his speech to the audience, Agard also expressed his gratitude to his wife Margaret and the Barbados Gospelfest planning team. (PR)
